2026 Kick Off Meeting

Kickoff Principles

  • When something falls into the category of “but that’s how it’s always been”, it doesn’t mean it was the best way.
  • Manage to the rule, not the exception
  • Disagree does not mean Unfair
  • Fair does not mean Equal
  • Handicap Index does not mean Pops
  • Not everyone will be happy. Someone will be pissed, no matter what you do Some people just want to bitch about stuff even if they really don’t have an issue with it. Don’t be that guy.

Schedule

  • 6 Preseason rounds (starting on March 7th)
  • 16 Open Play rounds (starting on April 18th)
  • 5 Signature events (ABCD 2-Ball, Stableford, 2-Man Best Ball, ABCD 3-Ball, 2-Man Chapman)
  • 2 Major events (Member/Member, Club Championship)
  • 1 Ryder Cup event
  • Match Play tournament throughout the 2026 season

Required Rounds

  • 3 rounds required to establish Men’s Club handicap and compete for prizes
  • 10 rounds required to play in the Member-Member or Club Championship
  • 5 of those rounds must be in the current season for returning members

Committee Role

Role: To be the voice of the membership when it comes to implementing standards and policies regarding the Men’s Club Have a suggestion or opportunity for improvement? There is a right way and wrong way to handle that. The right way is respectfully talking to a committee member or sending an email.
Top Priority: The betterment and continued growth of the Men’s Club Good mix of handicaps so all skill levels are represented
The Committee has Term Limits. New members are needed each year to keep continuity
THESE PEOPLE ARE HUMANS AND THEY VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND EFFORTS TO ENSURING THAT THE MENS CLUB RUNS AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE.
KEEPING 160 PEOPLE HAPPY AT ALL TIMES IS NOT POSSIBLE. IF, FOR EXAMPLE, YOUR FEELINGS GET HURT BECAUSE YOU DO NOT LIKE ONE OF THE RULES OR YOUR TEE TIME REQUEST WASN’T HONORED ONE TIME, SUCK IT UP AND/OR VOLUNTEER

Specific Men’s Club Local Rules

Carts off the path - the ball played down everywhere Cart path only - the ball is played up everywhere Playing it “up” means lift, clean and place within 12 inches UNLESS you are in a penalty area Stroke and distance alternative rule for Out of Bounds and Lost Balls
Course map on the Falls Men’s Club website outlines each hole with red and yellow penalty markings that will be used for all Men's club play
Course marked Drop Zones MAY BE utilized for Men’s Club (optional)
Slow Play Our Membership subcommittee is the focal point for any discussions We don't aim to penalize, only speed up play if required

Reminders

MAKE SURE YOU ARE ENTERING THE CORRECT SCORES
If you think that your score may be wrong, please notify the committee ASAP
Review before and after submitting final scores to ensure accuracy
Police your group for rules infractions We know, your buddy SHOULD be allowed to bump their ball out of the divot in the fairway, but that is not what the rules state. Call a penalty on them.
Police your group for pace of play Almost every hole on the course you should be able to see the group in front of you.
If you don’t, remind your group that you all pick up the pace Exception – if you are on 7 and the group ahead of you is on 9 you are still behind
Gimmes When competing in stroke play gimmes are allowed within 12 inches IF for Net bogey or worse. When playing in season long match play tournament you are STILL competing in stroke play. Your opponent may concede your putt but you still must putt out. Only exception is Ryder/Presidents Cup which is a fully match play event
